Probably playing several rounds of golf with 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson between the years 1999-2001 at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, IA (which is now essentially a shrine to him) when he was off the Nike/Buy.com tours (now the Nationwide Tour) and on the Hooters Tour and sort of "struggling" with his game. I doubt he even remembers me now, but it was fun to play with him then.

Top 10 at the Kansas Junior Amateur in the summer of 2002, 54 hole total of 228 in 25-45 mph winds at Winfield Country Club helped me get looks from Colorado State and Iowa State.

Qualifying to play in the Member's Club Championship at Elmcreat after shooting a 1 over 71 and still getting second place (the winner shot 68, but they said my score led to me deserving a spot in the Member's Championship) in the Junior Club Championship. I was 16.

I also have two holes-in-one. 1995 and 2002

And if Tee-Ball counts, my summer of 1992 Cedar Hills team went undefeated in a season that included four "unsanctioned/unrecorded" re-matches with teams who thought they could beat us if they could just play us two more times. It didn't happen. We also won all 3 tournaments as a "select" team in the late summer. I know, I know, it's tee-ball, but when you think about 7-8 year old boys playing organized defense, it's pretty impressive. We had to have played about 20 games total.

The 2009 trip just my dad and I took up to Minneapolis to watch one of the Twins' final home stand weekend series against the Detroit Tigers when they were trying to overtake them for the Division (which they ended up doing, needing a 163rd game) to essentially say "farewell" to the Metrodome, where he and I had watched several games when I was growing up. Really special father-son trip that I'll never forget.

Manchester United Football Club, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Capitals, Kansas Jayhawks

Kirby Puckett, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Gary Woodland, Zach Johnson, Joe Mauer

Bill Self, Larry Brown, Tim Floyd, Larry Eustachy, Ron Gardenhire

Little Big League, The Sandlot, Caddyshack, Kingpin, ESPN 30-for-30 "The U" and "The Death Penalty"

I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and moved to the Kansas City area when I was 16 and finished high school there.

I attended the University of Kansas where I majored in History and Political Science and graduated in May of 2007.

I've been working in politics ever since. From 2007 to 2009 I was in Washington, D.C. working for Senator Chuck Grassley (Iowa). During that time I met my wife, and we moved (back to) Lawrence so she could start attending KU Law.

I was plucked by the founder of Man Cave Sports from the circle-jerk that was being a "Featured Columnist" for Bleacher Report. I enjoy writing about my favorite teams, and the bulk of my prose will be devoted to soccer, but I will write on anything "El Jefe" needs me to.
