With the NHL season about a week old, it’s time to dive in and take a look at my crystal ball and make the MCS predictions for the upcoming season.
The NHL’s Pacific Division could be one of the most competitive in the league. Remember this is the regular season and not the playoffs, so the San Jose Sharks are still very good. It will be interesting to watch how much the Los Angeles Kings young talent progresses as well. Add to that the upstart Phoenix Coyotes and the Anaheim Ducks who should rebound and the Pacific could send four teams to the post-season. Only the Dallas Stars don’t have much of a chance to win this division, but stranger things have happened in the NHL.
The NHL’s Northwest Division could turn itself into a one team race very early on in the season. Vancouver could turn out to be Stanley Cup contenders. Calgary could take a big step backwards this season, while Colorado will have to show if their young roster is the real deal or if last season was a one year wonder. Edmonton’s young talent will be on full display as well, as the Northwest Division could feature some of the best young talent in the game.
