Patriots, Rex Ryan hungry
Regular season games, they don’t get bigger than this… a playoff battle between division rivals that self-admittedly hate one another, on Monday Night Football.

DeSean Jackson is one of those players I just love to see play. Very few players come along that have the explosive element that’s always right-around the corner. You never know when he’s going to flip the switch on his fast-as-lightning speed and burn the 11 players on the other side of the ball.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that New England Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins will end his holdout and report to the team upon recommendation from the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). Mankins is expected to show up sometime between now and November 16th. Fellow holdout, San Diego Chargers offensive lineman Marcus McNeill reported to his team a few weeks [...]
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson will end his holdout and report to the team upon recommendation from the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). Jackson is expected to show up sometime between now and October 31st. By doing this, Jackson will still need to sit out three unpaid games before he is [...]
The first week of the NFL season is wrapped up. There were upsets, disappointments and surprises. There were studs, duds and some plain old worthlessness. This is what I learned in week one.
Darrelle Revis is back, and unfortunately for opposing offenses, he isn’t alone. After Rex Ryan self-admittedly threw a “tantrum” in contract negotiations and made a trip to see Revis, the New York Jets “front office” and Revis finally reached a deal ending Revis’ 36 day holdout. The deal, reportedly worth $46 million ($32 guaranteed) is for 4 years. That’s quite [...]
The Cincinnati Bengals may have been the surprise team in the NFL a season ago, completing an impressive worst to first rise and capturing the AFC North title for the second time under head coach Marvin Lewis. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the Bengals lost four of their last five and quickly limped out of the playoffs with a loss to the New York Jets.
The Cleveland Browns would like people to believe that the team that finished up 2009 with four straight wins is the team that will be taking the field in 2010, but it’s not and it likely will be another long year in Cleveland. Expect the style of play though to more resemble that team that ended 2009 on a hot streak. The team ran the ball, played defense and took some steps to erase a very poor start.
The Baltimore Ravens enter the 2010 season as one of the best built teams in the AFC and have to be considered one of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl in 2010. For a long time, the Ravens have done it with defense, and while that will still be the case, the Ravens are loaded with weapons on offense and should be able to put points up with anyone in the league.
Coming off their sixth Super Bowl victory in 2008, the Pittsburgh Steelers struggled in 2009, finishing with a 9-7 record and missing the playoffs. The Steelers started strong at 6-2 but followed that with a five game skid before winning their final three games of the season. For a change, the Steelers couldn’t close out games. All seven of their losses came by seven points or less.
